Ports of Stockholm and Port of Riga sign Memorandum of Understanding to apply for joint EU funding
A newly signed Memorandum of Understanding between Ports of Stockholm, the Freeport of Riga Authority and Riga Ropax Terminal is the driving force behind a joint application for EU funding to reduce the impact of port activities on the environment and climate in the areas surrounding the passenger terminals in the capital cities. The aim is to build a sustainable foundation for the future reintroduction of the important maritime transport route between the neighbouring countries and to ensure climate neutrality.

Stockholm Norvik Port as CCS node to meet national climate goals – Feasibility Study starts now
This May, the Swedish Energy Agency granted funding for a Feasibility Study for establishing, together with leading actors in the CCS segment, a logistics node for captured carbon dioxide at Stockholm Norvik Port. The long-term goals are to increase the possibilities for emission reduction and the negative emissions by establishing a regional, sustainable and cost-efficient infrastructure for carbon dioxide capture, interim storage and transportation in eastern Sweden. The solution for transportation and handling between the producing facilities and the end capture sites would be a major contributor to Sweden achieving its environmental goals.

GANT moves its global head office to Frihamnen port in Stockholm

Ports of Stockholm explores safety aspects of autonomous shipping in innovative research project
Ports of Stockholm, in collaboration with several partners, has been awarded research funding from the Swedish Transport Agency for research into autonomous shipping in an urban city environment. The aim of the research project is to explore and develop the safety aspects and create new preconditions for maritime sustainability and mobility services, in addition to strengthening Stockholm's position from an international perspective.

New Ports of Stockholm customer plans autonomously operated ferry in the Stockholm city centre
A new Ports of Stockholm customer, shipping company Torghatten, will this spring introduce an electrically powered autonomously operated ferry service across Riddarfjärden in the Stockholm city centre. The initiative is a sustainable and innovative addition for the general public and is fully aligned with Stockholm’s quays strategy.

Important milestone reached in Ports of Stockholm’s hydrogen gas initiative
