Cruise Europe holds successful conference in Stockholm
On 14–16 May, the Cruise Europe network held its annual general meeting and annual conference in Stockholm. Over a couple of beautiful summer days, visitors were able to experience Stockholm as a popular cruise destination and a sustainable, premium destination. Ports of Stockholm hosted the event together with Stockholm Business Region.
Cruise Europe’s members chose Stockholm as the destination to host this year's conference for cruise industry representatives. The comprehensive and well-organised programme provided participants with valuable insights and inspiration about the future.
“We are very proud that Cruise Europe members chose Stockholm as the venue for this year's conference. It is an important opportunity for us to showcase our beautiful city and the warm welcome that Stockholm has to offer. We would like to thank everyone involved for a very well organised programme,” says Stefan Scheja, Marketing Manager Ferries and Cruises at Ports of Stockholm and member of the Cruise Europe Board.
Ports of Stockholm looks forward to continuing to develop its cooperation with Cruise Europe and other parties in the cruise industry.
“It's great to see that Stockholm retains its popularity and continues to be one of the most sought-after cruise destinations. Cruise lines are committed to and actively working on sustainability. They are upgrading their fleets with new technologies that reduce the impact of ships on the environment,” said Jens Skrede, Managing Director of Cruise Europe.
A lot of cruise lines are investing in new ships with more modern technology and alternative fuel options. This year, Mein Schiff 7 will be introduced to the Baltic Sea and Ports of Stockholm. The brand-new cruise ship is designed to be able to connect to electricity at the quayside and use methanol as fuel. Queen Anne is another brand-new cruise ship making its debut in Ports of Stockholm this year.
